Revival Meetings for the Lonely

Preface: It was another Saturday night and I went a couple of bars where some live music would be playing. I ordered a drink and watched the crowd and wondered about what was going on in their heads and what it was they were looking for. When I got home I began to write.

The places people go at night so they don't have to stay at home. To perhaps make a friend or two and not spend the last night alone. A different place every night so many they can choose. Sometimes they'll find a friend and win … but most times you seem to lose. Hurts so much to lose.

Contribute you coins and play the next jukebox tune

Chorus Now what would we do without these places … that mend emotional wounds. Revival meetings for the lonely. So contribute your coins and you go play the next jukebox tune.

And I've been to so many places and mostly I have found, silly conversations that just go round and round and round. The people that I see there come dressed in the finest wares. Yet all they seem to ever do is sip their drinks and stare.

Chorus Now what would we do without these places … that mend emotional wounds. Revival meetings for the lonely. So contribute your coins and you go play the next jukebox tune.

I wonder what they're all looking for … I suppose to get whatever they can. Or maybe if they're lucky to have a one night stand … and get whatever they can … cause they don’t really give a damn.

Chorus Now what would we do without these places … that mend emotional wounds. Revival meetings for the lonely. So contribute your coins and you go play the next jukebox tune.

But things can be different sometimes, it happens now and then. You’ll meet someone you really like … someone you’ll want as your friend. That's when places don't matter anymore as your searching has come to an end. Now you can spend your nights any place, cause now you've got a friend. It's so nice to have a friend.

Chorus Now what would we do without these places … that mend emotional wounds. Revival meetings for the lonely. So contribute your coins and you go play the next jukebox tune.
